Executive Team
John Van Schepen -- President
John Van Schepen joined Intercon in December 2002 as Senior Vice President of Finance. Under John's direction, Intercon improved its administrative processes and efficiencies while maintaining its primary focus of operational excellence for the future. In February 2006 John was named President. Since joining Intercon, John has dedicated himself to the growth and development of the company. In the future, John's main focus will be maintaining our presence as the market leader and better meeting the needs of our customers.
John is a Chartered Accountant and also holds Bachelor Commerce and M.B.A. degrees from McMaster University in Hamilton. John previously held senior management roles with a number of public and private companies in the service, pharmaceutical and food sectors including Patheon Inc. and Heinz Canada. John has considerable experience in managing change and growth which he has demonstrated over the last several years.
Max Warmuth -- Vice President, Operations
Max Warmuth joined Intercon in 1983. Max was recruited into the ranks of the Special Assignment Group (SAG) which at that time specialized in performing close protection, surveillance, and undercover assignments.
Shortly thereafter, Max became a Mobile Operations Director within the Security Officer Division. In 1988, Max was part of the founding team and later served as the Operations Manager for the newly created Protective Services Division (PSD). In 1990, Max became the Senior Consultant for the organization, conducting security surveys, audits, seminars and system design projects. Max worked for some time as a Sales Account Executive, and returned to operations in 1997 as the General Manager of the Protective Services Division. In 2000, he additionally assumed stewardship of the Residential/Commercial Systems Division. In 2002, Max became Director of the Security and Investigative Personnel Division, overseeing all aspects of Intercon's manpower and mobile services in Eastern Canada.
In his current role as Vice President of Operations, Max oversees Installations, Service, Operations Centre, and the Locksmithing departments of the Toronto Branch.
Cesar Traverso - Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Cesar Traverso joined Intercon in January 1989 and is currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining the Sales Team, Cesar held several roles within the Security and Investigative Personnel Division.
In 1991, he joined the Sales and Customer Service Department as an Account Executive. Cesar was promoted to Manager, Intercon Operations Centre (IOC) and the Database Department in 1993. In 1996 Cesar returned to the Sales and Customer Service Department as a Team Leader and was promoted to Director of Sales and Customer Service in 2000. The years that followed saw Cesar drive sales growth to record levels and in 2005 he was promoted to his current role, VP, Sales and Marketing.
Cesar's mandate for the coming 3-5 years is to triple Sales growth by providing integrated solutions to the national and global marketplace. Cesar holds a Bachelor's Degree from Anglia Polytechnic University in England. In addition, he has completed several courses on Sales, Management and Leadership development at the Schulich School of Business at York University.
Scott Karsen -- Vice President, Finance & Administration
Scott Karsen joined Intercon in April 2007. He earned his Chartered Accountant degree in 1992 from the University of B.C. and, since then, has held several positions of increasing responsibility as a financial manager.
Most recently, Scott worked for Impark. He began work in their Canadian Operations as the Regional Controller and was promoted to the US Office to assimilate the US Operations. He improved both productivity and the quality of service and was quickly promoted to VP & Controller, US Region.
He brings strong technical skills and a "hands-on" approach to this role. Scott's mandate will be to help streamline and improve our processes and assist the rest of the senior management team in strengthening our foundation in preparation for the tremendous growth opportunities facing our company.
Scott will directly oversee Finance, Purchasing, Facilities & Fleet, Information Technology, and will also be a driver of our broader strategic initiatives.
Iain Morton - Vice President and General Manager, Vancouver
Iain Morton joined the firm in 1992. With nearly 20-years experience and an enviable record of achievement in the sector, Iain assumed his current leadership position following a successful placement as Manager of Sales, B.C. and following an eight-year term as a Senior Account Executive in the Toronto office sales and customer service team.
Iain is a Niagara Falls native and has been educated in both Scotland and Ontario. He brings to his position an extensive, multi-faceted background in the sector. Prior to his Sales experience, Iain Morton held a number of progressive positions in Intercon's Security Officer Division.
Iain possesses superior industry knowledge and expertise, together with a client-centred approach. In his current capacity he is responsible for all of our British Columbia operations with a strong focus on business development, quality service and customer satisfaction.
