Corporate History

On June 30, 2008, the acquisition of Intercon Security by ADT was completed. As a new division of ADT North America, we will now operate as ADT Advanced Integration. We will retain the brand name of Intercon Security in Canada for our Security Guard Division.

As a market leader in integration and business enterprise solutions, becoming a part of ADT North America further strengthens our capacity by providing additional services and broader geographic coverage plus the resources of the global leader in electronic security, ADT.

We remain dedicated to providing you with the same reliability, technical support and personal service that you have come to know and expect from us.

ADT Advanced Integration / Intercon Security has a long tradition of being North America's preeminent security leader. We hold this position by maintaining our unique approach to security: one that encompasses a 360 degree view of our customers' security needs. Where other companies rely on one limited product or service, our mandate has been and continues to be -- to provide a complete program of security. Our customers understand there is no single fail-proof solution to security; that achieving a secure environment means employing an incomparable array of protection resources and keeping a continuous focus on performance improvement.

Our belief in a broad-spectrum program has resulted in a company like no other, surpassing the rest of the industry in our ability to analyze, design, and blend many different systems and services required to attain the optimum protection.

More than 35 years of excellence
Founded in 1972, ADT Advanced Integration / Intercon Security Limited has grown from its original office in Toronto to include several branch and field offices and more than 2,200 employees across Canada.

Intercon first established itself as an industry leader by being the #1 choice for security services in shopping malls and other high-traffic, retail venues. These venues required security solutions with a two-fold objective: ensuring public safety & theft/crime reduction and complementing the venue's aesthetics and purpose (i.e. public enjoyment).

As we continued to grow, we turned our attention to major, multi-use complexes and corporate head offices. From our beginnings, we were the first in the industry to promote a more focused and extensive program delivery model. From our years of experience, we have determined that this model is more cost-effective, more manageable and provides greater protection. In addition, we were the first security company to introduce professional attire for our officers to complement the professional 'look' of the clients we serve.

As the security industry changed to meet the demands of a more volatile world and the emergence of new technology, Intercon was one of the first companies to embrace these new developments. In fact, we were pioneers in the early stages of security technology, designing products unique to the needs of our client base. Our sophisticated IP solutions, including advancements in CCTV and access control, are cross-platform and "manufacturer-blind," making them cost-effective and integration capable.

These successful new lines of technology paved the way for Intercon's entry into the residential & commercial intrusion alarm markets. This led to the next technical breakthrough -- the development of electronic access control. Access controls allow building management to guard building access by giving approved individuals programmable access cards. An on-site, central processing unit, with fully distributed intelligence at the reader allowed automatic access to cardholders including the innovation of vertical access control. Later, Intercon adapted technology to provide remote services, conveniently allowing property access control to be managed from an off-site central processing unit. This groundbreaking development enabled smaller companies, with neither the means nor the need for an in-house system, to benefit from this cost-effective remote solution.

In recent years, Intercon adopted a consultative approach to client security needs. Knowing the enormity of security information, products and services on the market and the challenges of understanding and measuring the effectiveness of these offerings, we formed an elite group of security specialists. Our consultants bring the experience and expertise to meet virtually any corporate security need, from crisis management to VIP protection.

After more than thirty five years, Intercon is proud to be the only security company offering the depth and range of services capable of providing the most comprehensive security protection.

Position in the Industry

Intercon's preeminence in the industry is based on our range and depth of integrated services and unique ability to custom-fit each security solution by applying services alone or in combination. Our mandate is to provide the best price to performance ration with respect to security solutions.
